Andrew Alexander Cole, well known by the shortened name Andy Cole, started his football career as a youth player for Arsenal. He signed professional terms in 1989 and played for Arsenal until 1991. His last match for the Gunners was on the 10th August 1991 in the Charity Shield against Tottenham Hotspur. The game finished 0-0 and the two teams shared the trophy. However, Arsenal lost one great player, which would later play for rivals Manchester United and bag 93 goals in 195 appearances. With United he won the Premier League 5 times, the FA cup twice, the FA Charity Shield twice, the 1998/99 UEFA Champions League and the 1999 Intercontinental Cup.
On the 10th August 2004, Francis Jeffers was sold to Charlton Athletic for £2.6 million. He is regarded by many as a huge flop as he cost £8 million to transfer from Everton in 2001, and was sold three years later for much less. He scored 4 goals in 22 appearances in an Arsenal shirt, and was loaned back to Everton for the 2003/04 season before being permanently transferred to Charlton.
