On the 15th August of 2011, Arsenal announced on their official website that they have reached an agreement with Catalan giants Barcelona for the transfer of Cesc Fabregas. After a long-protracted transfer saga, the Spanish midfielder returns to Nou Camp after playing for the club's youth eam between 1997 and 2003. 15th August
On the 15th August 1992, Arsenal played the first match in the new top domestic league in English football: the Premier League. This match was played against Norwich City at Highbury, and Arsenal lost with the score of 4-2, with the Arsenal goals being scored by Steve Bould and Kevin Campbell. Back then, Arsenal's shirts were manufactured by German brand Adidas and sponsored by JVC. In that season, Arsenal won the FA Cup and hence qualified for the 1993/94 European Cup Winners' Cup First Round. In the league, however, the club slumped to an awful 10th place finish, with the league winners being Manchester United with a 28 point advantage over Arsenal's 56 point total.
